What's that catchy Song in the Macbook Air Commercial?

If you’ve heard of the Apple Macbook Air then chances are you’ve seen the commercial as well. The one where they pull the Macbook Air out of an envelope (the one with Panache), as if it were a collection of documents and not a laptop, then they show the computer off a little. All the while claiming the apple macbook air is the thinnest laptop in existence. The claim becomes hard to refute after seeing the incredibly thin device slide easily into the envelope. Although many critics point out the near obligatory macbook air superdrive was absent from the commercial, even though it is practically essential to make full use of the computer. The commercial nonetheless received resounding praise. And no Apple commercial could be complete without a trendy song playing in the background and this one is no different.

In case you got the song stuck in your head since watching the video, or simply always wanted to know what it was called, the song is “New Soul” by Yael Naim. We’ve provided a little link to the song’s full Youtube video. The entire song is naturally longer than what was played on the Macbook Air commercial. Aside from sounding great with its up tempo instrumental background reminiscent of the Beatles, the song’s lyrics are perfect for introducing the Macbook Air. Yael Naim, the singer, is saying how she is a new and young soul who just came to this world, “Hoping I could learn a bit about what is true and fake”. The featherweight three pound Air is responsible for injecting apple laptops with new soul. They definitely picked their song choice wisely for presenting the Macbook Air to the world. But enough about the Macbook Air, who is the performer behind the music?

Who is Yael Naim?

Born in 1078, the Israeli musician grew up in Israel where she worked with music since she was young and was inspired by the Beatles. She played in Jazz clubs in Israel and played in her own group which toured the country after the mandatory 2 years of Israeli military service. However, who career really started taking in off in 2000 after moving to Paris. It was hear that she signed to her first label and produced her first album in 2001. She viewed the album as a personal failure, but after meeting and collaborating with West Indian drummer David Donatien, she produced another album in 2004 with far more success. This was the first album in which she sung in Hebrew, and she made many other innovations in her musical style.

Perhaps it was these musical changes that cause her to write the song “New Soul”? Nevertheless, the song happens to fit perfectly with the way Apple is introducing the Macbook Air and there exist some clear parallels. It has also been very well received by the public and is sure to help the macbook air sales. For instance, the Macbook Air uses the same technology of Apple laptops, but manages to do things vastly differently to benefit the user, by having extremely compact dimensions. The Macbook Air benefits the user with its small size, and, thanks to the apple macbook air superdrive, does not lack anything a standard Macbook possesses. Similarly, all that Yael Naim changed was the language in which she sung, however, this had a major and positive impact on her music. Apple proves again why they are the leaders in creativity and managed to find the perfect trendy song to accompany their equally trendy Macbook Air.
